What the format is for

AutomateNI Workshops are for doing the work in the room. Attendees bring a laptop and either follow a practical first-automation exercise or work on a process they already want to improve. The goal is not to promise a production-ready system in one evening. It is to leave with a clearer process, a working first step and a better idea of what should happen next.

A workshop needs more preparation than a show-and-tell. The organiser should publish the software, account and equipment requirements in advance, provide example data instead of asking people to connect live business systems, and have enough helpers available to deal with installation and setup problems. A fallback exercise matters too, because not every laptop, account or network behaves as expected on the night.

Workshops can cover personal or business automation. Someone might build a first n8n workflow, connect a form to a spreadsheet, map a repetitive admin process or prototype an alert. More experienced attendees can bring their own problem, but the facilitators should be clear about what support they can reasonably provide during the session.

The useful outcome is a practical start and a process people understand, rather than a room full of identical demos.

FAQ

Do I need to bring a laptop?

Usually yes. Each workshop page will list the equipment and accounts needed.

Can I bring a work problem?

Yes, when the workshop allows it. Use example data and do not bring confidential information unless the format specifically supports it.

Will I leave with a finished production automation?

Not necessarily. The aim is a working first step and a clearer plan.
